Z1440 Federal Regulation 1839 Pattern Waist Belt Plate (Arrow Hooks / Maker Marked)
Description: Here is another maker marked US waist belt plate. This one has a deep "T.J.SHEPARD" marking and a very light "BOYD & SONS" marking with only a few visible letters. This mid to late war plate has a dark patina with some verdigris highlights. The plate retains it's original shape and curvature. The hook assembly is made out of brass and is of the arrow hook variety. The back retains nearly all of the lead solder with a few small pitted areas. There is one small dot on the "U" where there is a ding.
Backmark: "BOYD & SONS/BOSTON" and "T.J.SHEPARD"
