Z808     Scarce One Piece Vermont Militia Button (Excavated Example)

Description: Here is a scarce one piece button made for the Vermont Militia. This piece is excavated and is listed on William Leigh's site under the sold items. He states that this example is the only dug one he has ever seen. The stand up shank is intact on this example and the backmark is excellent! The face was silvered at one time, but being a dug example, most of the silver plating is now gone.

Backmark: "R & W. ROBINSON / (dot) ATTLEBOROUGH (dot) / EXTRA / (dot) * (dot) * (dot) * (dot) RICH (dot) * (dot) * (dot) * (dot)" rm with four raised rings.

Z807     One Piece Maine Militia Button

Description: Very nice condition Maine Militia button. This is the one piece button with the North Star in the center and seventeen stars surrounding. The stand up shank is present and intact.

Z802     Virginia State Seal Staff Officer's Button

Description: Nice locally dug Virginia staff button. This one is missing the shank and has the color of buttons that are out of fire pits. There is a large push to the face on this example.

Description: Nice excavated Virginia state seal button. The shank is intact but is pushed quite a bit. The face is also pushed but does have gilt highlighting Virtus.

Z796     North Carolina State Seal Button

Description: Nice excavated NC8 button with the SA Myers backmark. This button has no pushes and could be cleaned up a little more. The stand up shank is intact and there is a very tiny hairline crack in the 10 O'clock position.

Z700     Confederate Block "A" Artillery Button

Description: Here is a very nice excavated Confederate Artillery button. This one has a very nice face with no cracks or dents present. The back of this button has been professionally repaired and there is a shank present. This is fairly common for these tin back "A" buttons.

Z638     1812 Era Cast Infantry Button (Foliate Design w Star)

Description: Here is a very nice foliate design infantry button. This one has the star that is pointing downward in the oval on the base. This one was professionally reshanked many years ago with a silver shank.

Z504     Virginia Military Institute Coat Button (VMI)

Description: These buttons are slightly transitional/post war. They don't show up on period uniforms and they don't show up with other excavated buttons of the same style. This is the pattern where the spear touches the bottom of the "D" in CADET. The back and shank are slightly pushed on this example.

Z169     Federal Navy Button (Horizontal Anchor)

Description: Here is a very nice little excavated Navy button. This one has plenty of gilt highlighting the details on the face. The back still has some gilt as well and it highlights the backmark superbly. The stand up shank is intact and there is not a single push on the face. This button came out of a collection of relics from the Wilmington area.

Description: Here is a very nice Vermont cuff button. This one still has plenty of gilt left on the face and the stand up shank is intact. This button is published in the NSTCW Magazine Vol. 34 No. 4/2009 on page. 14.

Description: Nice excavated navy vest button. This one still has plenty of gilt left on the front. There is one very very slight push towards the bottom of the face. The stand up shank is intact and slightly bent.
