Description:  Nice excavated button. This has the hard to get Steele & Johnson backmark. There is plenty of gold on this button and the shank is slightly bent. The button is loose but stable. Other than that there are no cracks, bends, dents, or repairs to this button.

Z303     Confederate Navy Officer's Button

Description: Description:  Rare excavated button. This button is exceptionally detailed with a dark green patina. It has the rare backmark of Hebbert Company London. This pattern only comes in this size and research tends to point out that none of them were gilted. The back mark is legible but there is some solder spatter covering a few of the letters. The shank is slightly pushed but other than that there are no breaks, bends, pushes, or repairs. This would look outstanding in your excavated Confederate Naval Collection.

Z292     Virginia State Seal Button

Description:  Nice dug button. This VA22 is highlighted in all of the right places. It even has plenty of gold on the back which is rare for these locals. The shank is intact and straight up but the shank is partially cracked but not all of the way through. This is a sturdy button that could be cleaned up a little more. There are no cracks, bends, pushes, or repairs to this button.

Description: Description:  Excellent dug button. The face of this one is covered in gold with some wrapping around to the back edge. The shank is slightly pushed in and over. This button doesn't have any other cracks, breaks, bends, or repairs.

Description: Here is a very nice little excavated Navy button. This one has plenty of gilt highlighting the details on the face. The back still has some gilt as well and it highlights the backmark superbly. The stand up shank is intact and there is not a single push on the face. This button came out of a collection of relics from the Wilmington area.

Description: Nice New York state seal cuff button. This one came out of a collection of relics from the Wilmington N.C. area. The rim is chipped but the button is strong and loaded with gilt.

Description: Here is a perfect eagle Infantry cuff button. This one is in excellent condition and has a perfect shank with that dark coastal patina

Z59     North Carolina State Seal Button

Description: Here is an interesting North Carolina button. This one has a very slick patina from being found in the sandy coastal soil. You can clearly see most of the detail on the face. There is a push and a small crack on the right hand side. The back shows a very lightly stamped channel and a missing shank. This button shows very crude manufacturing which is common on these North Carolina buttons.

Description: Nice excavated cuff size Voltiguers button. This is a nice specimen of this hard to find button type. The pictures don't do this button justice. The shank is slightly bent on this one. The backmark is legible but is isn't the common scovill mark with the three stars. This one has multiple dots on the back.
